We have one opening this year for a graduate to join the Investment team in our New York office.
Graduates start off with our induction training course which is outlined below. Following that, you will spend two years in New York, rotating within market research/competitive analysis, product management, marketing and client service. There could also be the opportunity to work in other countries during your program and after its completion.
INVESTMENT - THE INDUCTION PROGRAM
A key part of your induction into AIIA is our nine-week training program - one of the most comprehensive courses in the City. By the end of it, you will have achieved your Investment Management Certificate and built a full range of investment skills.
The program includes:
- An overview of all the key asset classes available to investors including hedge funds, real estate, private equity and structure products.
- Using financial statements to form an understanding of a company’s performance and business drivers.
- Utilizing this information to build an excel model, enabling you to forecast a company’s cash flows.
- Using your forecasts to value either a company’s equities or bonds.
- Learning, through a series of simulations, how investment markets work and how derivatives can be used to manage market uncertainty.
The whole learning experience is placed in a real world context as you manage a notional investment portfolio throughout the program.
Every aspect of this course has been carefully designed by line managers in conjunction with the HR division and our external consultants, who will deliver the majority of the program. It combines a mix of technical and personal development, giving you the skills you need to take early responsibility and launch your successful career with AIIA.
Make no mistake, our induction course will definitely stretch you - both academically and personally. You will be working in ways that may be new to you, and you will be expected to absorb large amounts of information in a short period of time. Previous graduates have often commented on how challenging and stimulating it is. Many have also said how rewarding it is too, as your confidence in your ability to carry out your new role grows significantly.
It’s also great fun, and classroom sessions are supplemented by a range of investment and business simulations which bring the learning to life. You will also have the opportunity to forge relationships with your fellow graduates which will be invaluable in future years.
